Seaweed & Cucumber Face Mask
This Seaweed and Cucumber Face Mask is created by emulsifying oils with water and cucumber extract, then adding a mixture of dry ingredients like seaweed powder (kelp), sea clay, spirulina powder, chlorella, sea clay, & a natural preservative (6.85 oz.).
Use: developed as a facial mask yet may use on the body, suitable for all skin types
The oils in this mask were chosen for their light texture and nourishing properties. Almond oil is an excellent moisturizer and absorbs quickly. The seaweed powder is dispersed in coconut oil, which is also light on the skin. They leave the skin feeling hydrated but not oily.
The mixture of kaolin clay & sea clay creates a thick but spreadable texture that is not overly drying. This mask is good for normal and combination skin. The clays act as a natural cleanser, absorber, purifier, & detoxifier.
Seaweed powder (kelp) is a rich source of vitamins including B12, vitamin E, amino acids, minerals, trace elements, and fatty acids. Kelp acts as a firming, healing, exfoliating, and strengthening agent. Sea kelp contains essential fatty acids that offer moisture while preventing your skin from losing that moisture with continued use. Additional benefits include a healthy, revitalized, and glowing appearance.
Chlorella (Breathe-Detoxify)
Breathe: Chlorella – a 2-billion year old algae – possesses purifying properties, cleansing the air surrounding it and therefore allowing for a wholesome intake of oxygen (high in chlorophyll). On the skin, cells can inhale an untainted source of 02 – an essential criteria for healthy, radiant skin – in the face of high pollution levels. Although skin doesn’t actually need to respire like our lungs do, oxygen is necessary for our skin cells to function normally.
Detoxify: Our pores are porous thus at risk for potential contaminating agents that penetrate deeply into the skin such as toxins produced by pollution. These toxins can then elicit free radicals damaging cells and catalyzing skin aging, while weakening the skin’s natural protective barrier.
Chlorella is packed with a wide range of potent antioxidants that can neutralize these free radicals, such as chlorophyll, beta-carotene, vitamin E and vitamin C, combatting aging, fine lines and wrinkles, while also building back the skin’s defenses against external aggressions.
Spirulina powder is added for color and skin benefits – it’s an algae rich in vitamins, nutrients, and antioxidants. It has a deep green hue, which gives this face mask a beautiful color. If you’ve worked with it before, you know spirulina does have a fishy odor thus a blend of essential oils along with a toning cucumber extract added to temper the scent.
