Healing B5 Balm, Multi-Purpose: Maskacne/Rash & Hand Dryness

$7

Maskacne is real... just like regular acne, there are multiple causes: not washing your mask often enough, washing it with a harsh detergent, your mask itself and its materials, and/or how frequently you have to wear it.

Masks help keep saliva and any other droplets—emitted from breathing, talking, coughing, or sneezing—from getting into the air and potentially transmitting Covid-19 or other illnesses. That's what we want them to do, but this means that they trap moisture and bacteria inside, touching your skin. These masks create a purposeful seal that prevents moisture from escaping, resulting in a humid environment where acne-causing bacteria is able to thrive.

Sterling soAKs formulated a healing balm blend of panthenol (vitamin B5), elderberry with zinc & vitamin C, vitamin E, colloidal oatmeal in a chamomile tea distillation, hydrocortisone 1%, manuka honey, & tea tree essential oil. This blend is augmented with Centella asiastica, madecassoside, copper, and a ceramide with SPF (1.52 oz.).

Use: maskacne/rash, acne, hand dryness, & skin irritation

Vitamin B5: reduces itching, redness and suppresses inflammation. Thanks to its soothing and repairing properties, Vitamin B5 also helps relieve inflamed acne and irritated/peeling skin. Vitamin B5 binds to and holds water in the skin, moisturizing and leaving it soft, smooth, and more supple. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and is involved in activating the proliferation of cells that are important for wound healing and restoring the function of the skin barrier.

Elderberry with zinc & vitamin C: many of the components possess anti-viral properties which may be helpful during this season. Our skin is our largest organ, might as well go "anti-viral" on it.

Elderflower & Elderberry are truly a nourishing, healing treatment for the skin with the added benefits of Vitamin C & zinc. It is the superfruit of the season. Studies show elderflower promotes blood circulation and is packed with vitamins A, B, C, and E — all of which is excellent for skincare enhancing the complexion and skin health. It includes other beneficial nutrients such as fatty acids, antioxidants, pholyphenols, carotenoids, and bioflavonoids. The blossom is said to have anti-inflammatory, conditioning, and antiwrinkle properties that soften and smooth the skin and calm irritations. Additionally, the flower also carries astringent, toning, and gentle detoxifying qualities, which can potentially improve skin texture and even skin tone.

It contains bioflavonoids including quercetin, rutoside, hesperidin, and anthocyanins (five times greater the amount found in blueberries). These natural antioxidant superstars are responsible for assisting in the removal of damaging free radicals from our bodies. They are anti-bacterial (useful for acne), anti-viral, anti-allergic (useful for allergic rashes), and anti-inflammatory. Research suggests that bioflavonoids prevent and reverse wrinkles, reduce spider veins, and inhibit the development and reduce the appearance of age spots (thanks to the flavonoid hesperidin).

Vitamin E: Vitamin E is absorbed into the skin quickly because it is fat-soluble. This leads to faster healing of acne and acne scars. It controls the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. The collagen strengthens the skin helps with the skin's elasticity and hydration.  Vitamin E is an antioxidant and is anti-inflammatory thus a potential acne treatment while providing cell regeneration.

Colloidal oatmeal: reduces redness and skin irritation to soothe and relieve skin disorders, such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Proven anti-aging and reparative properties for all skin types, including sensitive skin. It provides a protective film over the skin thus provides moisture and hydration with its potent emollient properties. Compounds such as phenols and the vitamin E in oatmeal have anti-inflammatory properties.

Chamomile tea: contains anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, chamomile tea can help reduce spots, acne scars, and itchy irritation.

Hydrocortisone 1%:  useful and effective for acne/irritation because it reduces redness and inflammation.

Manuka honey: improves your skin's appearance by balancing your skin's pH and help slough away dead cell debris to keep your skin clean. Its anti-inflammatory effect can decrease local inflammation caused by acne. As an antibacterial, Manuka honey leaves fewer bacteria to infect pores and cause acne.

Tea Tree Essential oil: popular for treating acne because of its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It's thought to calm redness, swelling, and inflammation. It may even help to prevent and reduce acne scars, leaving you with smooth, clear skin

Centella asiastica:  Centella asiatica is beneficial if you have sensitive skin or suffer from redness, irritation, or dehydration. First, the astringent properties of the tannins directly reduce inflammation by reducing swelling to control pain, redness, and itching. It has potent antioxidant properties and is a rich source of amino acids, and there’s additional research showing that it’s a potent hydrating ingredient to soothe compromised skin.

Madecassoside: for aiding in preventing hyperpigmentation and as well as hypertrophic scarring, which is any raised texture on the skin thus improving texture and tone while soothing the skin.

Cooper: serve as an antioxidant, promotes collagen and elastin production while removing damaged collagen and elastin from the skin. Copper is an antioxidant stimulating collagen and elastin production, strengthening the foundation which can help soften the appearance of fine lines.

Ceramide: ceramides are lipids that compose 50% of the skin composition keeping skin intact protecting the skin barrier sealing in moisture while reducing impurities. A combination of exfoliation and hydration can help improve irritation or acne.
